Ashanti was once a top tier R&B act, but after taking fours years off, she wasn't able to recapture the success she's had in the past with last year's return, The Declaration.
The Princess of Irv Gotti's The Inc. label is now a free agent. Gotti recently revealed, during an interview with MTV, that he and Ashanti haven't spoken in a long while, and he's finally dropped her from his label.
"The relationship has run its course," Gotti said. "The chemistry of what's needed -- we're in two totally different places. You're talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist -- 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up."
According to Gotti, he had no input in last year's album from Ashanti, and that's the reason the project was her first studio album to not reach platinum sales.
Gotti says she strayed away from her winning formula, resulting in her worse effort to date.
"I personally believe for her to be successful, it took the energy ... when you seen her, it was 30 n****s around her, and she's the princess so nice and pretty walking through," he said. "The music was great, but it was the energy that was created. It wasn't just her standing there and singing a song.
"We don't really speak or talk or anything like that," he continued. "It's sad in a way. But in another, it's like it's all good."
Gotti went on to say that Ashanti needs "some guidance" to reach the success she saw in the beginning of career, and without that, he doesn't feel she can win.
I don't think she can win. She needs some guidance with that," Gotti added. "But she's not thinking like that. Really, I couldn't tell you what she's thinking. So that relationship has run its course and honestly, I'm gonna just drop her."

According to reports, Ramirez has tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs, resulting in the suspension.

Nude Cassie Photos Hit The Web, Singer Reacts
Nude photos of the 22-year-old singer leaked to the web Wednesday (May 6), and quickly spread to numerous show biz blogs. The pics show Cassie naked from the waist up, laying on a bad with her nipple piercings exposed. They were taken more than a month ago, when she started popping up in public with a shaved head.
While some questioned the authenticity of the photos, Cassie confirmed they are real, when she addressed the leak via her Twitter profile.

Detroit Elects NBA Hall Of Famer David Bing As New Mayor
Detroit voters elected a new mayor recently -- former NBA legend and Hall of Famer Dave Bing, who pledged to lead the city with integrity.
According to the Detroit Free Press, 65-year-old Bing, won 52% of the vote, while his opponent Ken Cockrel received 48 percent. Experts say Bing won by pulling in a lot of undecided voters -- roughly 14% of registered voters participated in the May 5 election.

It's no secret that there's been tension between Miami rappers Trick Daddy and Rick Ross for months, starting with rumors that Trick leaked the widely circulated photos of a pre-rap Rick Ross.
In an interview on Angela Yee's Shade 45 satellite radio show Wednesday morning (May 6), Trick denied those accusations, and later said that -- without him -- there would be no Rick Ross.
"The sad part about this is when the first corrections officer picture came out, about a week later I saw an interview, the interviewer said, 'So Rick Ross, how do you feel about Trick Daddy calling you a prison guard?' Time out," the rapper explained. "Ain't no way you went for that dumb ass sh** right there. The sad part is that that interview is three years old. You do the math?
"I just don't understand it, I was a big Ross fan and if you check all my interviews, you check the web, radio, I never sneak dissed him," Trick continued. "I always tell people I like Ross as an artist, even when he was Teflon Don. Whatever he wanted to be, I supported him. For him to try and assassinate my character?"
If you stay locked to the internet, or keep up with new Rick Ross music, you may have heard his record "Valley of Death," in which he says Trick Daddy has AIDS, not Lupus as he recently revealed.

Despite the diss, Trick has remained quiet, opting not to fire back at the Carol City rapper. But in the radio interview, he addressed the situation, calling Ross "disrespectful".
"I've been arrested and convicted of more crimes than he been pulled over and written a ticket for. When did I have time to be a pu***?" Trick asked. "What do you gotta use me as an example? I don't give a f*** who told you what. Don't mention my name in your raps. That's disrespectful.
"I'mma real Miami n****. I was born and raised in Miami. I'm not moving to no f***in' where. I'm not going nowhere. My studio was in Carol City for three years -- that whole three years that player hatin' sh** was going on," he continued.

Most of the awards for the 2008-2009 NBA Season are finally in, and we got the results for you.
The season's most coveted award, the MVP, goes to the King ... King James that is, who lead his Cleveland Cavs to a team record 66 regular-seasons wins and best record in the NBA, thanks to his 28 points, nearly 8 rebounds, 7 assists, nearly 2 steals, and 1 block a game stats average.
I think this award is well deserved. Many felt that Kobe would recieve the reward, but clearly King James deserved it more.

Rapper Alfamega’s Informant Past Rears Its Ugly Head PART 2
Following the leak of documents that indicate that rapper Alfamega served as a federal informant in his past, T.I. has issued a statement, in which he ultimately kicks the rapper off his Grand Hustle imprint.
Reading from a prepared statement, T.I. revealed the news over Hot 97 radio airwaves, claiming he was stunned when he heard about Alfamega's background.
"I am stunned and totally surprised by the news about Alpha 'Ced' Zellers," T.I. said. "Even though all our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history, at no time did Alpha never disclose to me or Grand Hustle, which is now appearing in the news.
"He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose information about his past, and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior," he continued.

The Smoking Gun (TSG) just released some damaging documents that show that the rapper served as a DEA informant and government witness during the mid-90s.
TSG reports that court records show that Alfamega (real name: Cedric Zellars) began working with law enforcement in 1995 after he was sentenced to just over nine years thanks to a federal gun case ( a prior felony robbery conviction, the rapper was busted for selling weapons to an undercover federal agent).
He "agreed to cooperate with authorities and was debriefed" about the criminal activity of several individuals. "In particular he was debriefed concerning the drug trafficking activities of a Mr. Ali Baaqar," according to a government court filing. During his cooperation against Baaqar, Alfamega met with a DEA agent and a federal prosecutor, and subsequently testified at trial.
Baaqar was convicted of conspiracy to distribute heroin, based upon the trial testimony of Alfamega.
For his part in the conviction, the rapper had his sentence reduced by 18 months, and now sells stories of his past criminal lifestyle via his music.

Jennifer Hudson Pregnant: Report
Despite denials by her reps, two sources close to the singer/actress told Essence that Hudson is, indeed, expecting her first child.
The father would be her new fiance, Punk of "I Love New York 2" fame (real name: David Otunga). The couple haven't confirmed a date to walk down the isle just yet.
Hudson is currently on tour through May 8 with Robin Thicke. Her next show is April 23 at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, Missouri

Singer Jill Scott, Fiance Welcome First Child
R&B singer Jill Scott and her fiancé, drummer Lil John Roberts, welcomed their first child on Monday April 20 -- a brand new baby boy.
The singer's manager confirmed the birth with People this week. The bundle of joy was birth at 4:20 p.m. on Monday, and weighed 7 lbs., 8 oz.
The couple named the baby boy Jett Hamilton Roberts.
Scott, who stars on HBO's new series "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" (based on the popular novels by Alexander McCall Smith), discovered she was pregnant shortly before leaving for Botswana to film the show.
"At one point I was trying to gain weight for the role, and I noticed I had put on 7 lbs. in 7 days. And I thought, my god! What's going on here," she tells People. "I thought something was wrong with me, and I found out I was pregnant the day I was supposed to leave for Africa."
She first revealed the news at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles in January, explaining the hard time she had during her first trimester.
"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," Scott said. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days."
Despite the pregnancy, she continued filming: "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it."
Scott and Hamilton got engaged at a concert in New York City on June 2008.
"I definitely had issues over the course of my life, reproduction issues," Scott told People. "I was married for five years and could never conceive a child. Until now ... It's the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me."

Scott, who stars on HBO's new series "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" (based on the popular novels by Alexander McCall Smith), discovered she was pregnant shortly before leaving for Botswana to film the show.
"At one point I was trying to gain weight for the role, and I noticed I had put on 7 lbs. in 7 days. And I thought, my god! What's going on here," she tells People. "I thought something was wrong with me, and I found out I was pregnant the day I was supposed to leave for Africa."
She first revealed the news at the Television Critics Association conference in Los Angeles in January, explaining the hard time she had during her first trimester.
"The first trimester I spent in Botswana," Scott said. "That was one of the biggest challenges of my life. First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14 hour days."
Despite the pregnancy, she continued filming: "My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can do this, so I did it."
Scott and Hamilton got engaged at a concert in New York City on June 2008.
"I definitely had issues over the course of my life, reproduction issues," Scott told People. "I was married for five years and could never conceive a child. Until now ... It's the most amazing thing that's ever happened to me."

Funkmaster Flex Threatens Ban Of Interscope Artists On Hot 97
New York City radio personality, Funkmaster Flex, went off while on the air on Hot 97 Tuesday night April 21, calling for a ban of all Interscope Records artists.
During his on-air rant, Flex explained that he was worked up about a situation with an employee from the label named Nino. He said either he fixes his problem and/or leaves the label, or his boycott will be continued.
While not revealing too many details about the personal situation, Flex barked off threats.
"Let me tell you something Nino -- New York I'm talking to a person who makes decisions, who does things up there moving funny style," Flex said. "Interscope Records, nothin' is spinning ..."

"50, from what I hear, your deal is up at Interscope, we got you. I'd walk out that building after that. That Eminem album is coming Interscope -- I take pride in how I'm gonna do this movement. Unfortunately, we're not gonna be able to play those Eminem and Dr. Dre records and I'm so sorry this is the way this has to go down with this guy's album coming," he continued.
Flex did say he'd like to continue his relationships with the artists at the label, but won't compromise if this Nino continues.
"I want us all to be friends, but Nino is not a friend of ours. I will go on with this. Nino, you got 24 hours to fix yourself or this goes some place else, tomorrow. Nino is the only one I'm letting off today, tomorrow I'm teeing off on the whole team," he said.
Interscope's roster includes some of the biggest artists in the genre today, including 50 Cent, Eminem, Keyshia Cole, Common, The Game, and Dr. Dre, among others.
If Flex stays true to his word, all these artists and several others will not receive airplay, at least on Flex block of time.

Rapper Lil Boosie Arrested On Two Battery Charges
According to Ballerstatus.com, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie was arrested Wednesday April 22 in Baton Rouge for participating in two unrelated fights.
According to local news station WAFB, the 26-year-old rapper (real name: Torrence Hatch) was involved in two separate fights on two separate occasions -- one in April and the other in March.
On April 12, the rapper allegedly hit a man several times on his residence, after he questioned him about a missing necklace from his room.
As a result, the unidentified man's injuries required three staples and 13 stitches, in addition to suffering from a mild concussion. An arrest warrant was issued for Boosie shortly after.
The other fight occurred on March 23 at Celebration Station, Sgt. Don Kelly, of the Baton Rouge Police, told the station.
The rapper is said to have punched a Celebration Station employee, after he was told that he was breaking the rules at the complex's go-cart track.
After the employee threatened to call police, Boosie left.
After his arrest Wednesday, he was booked into Parish Prison on one count each of simple battery, and aggravated second-degree battery.
Lil Boosie is a hardcore southern rapper, will these violent charges increase his street cred?
